New Arrivals Require Medical Procedures, Exhaustive Care, High Costs

We accept animals with their maladies, and abandoned newborn kittens because we know they are vibrant creatures and will always find a loving home and bring unconditional love to the families who ultimately adopt them. But more often than not, their medical needs are not known at intake and not discovered until their initial examinations.

Your incredible gift will help us to continue providing pets in need with specialized medical care and the prospect of a forever home. And we thank you for your support!

Below we recap some of our heartbreaking stories:

Abandoned Kittens = Additional Costs
Bottle Baby Kittens in Abundance This Year

This Spring’s kitten season has proven quite challenging. These “throw away” babies have been found at different location in the Bosque and the landfill and brought to us, as well as boxes we have found dumped at our gate. Many of these kitten litters are orphaned and still require round the clock feeding. Thankfully, our team of volunteer foster mommas take them in, prep the formula bottles and feed them every 2 hours.

We are beyond grateful to our volunteers who heed this calling. it is not easy. Nor is it cheap. The KMR kitten formula is $54- $123 a tin.

Required Procedures on Our Pictured Pets Above:

Jane - 14 year old Domestic Short Hair

$900

Boo Boo - 10 year old Chihuahua
Bloodwork/Dental Exam/Teeth Extractions, and thyroid condition requiring medications for life.

Xrays determined Holly was suffering from severe hip dysplasia. During surgery to repair the dysplasia, it was discovered Holly was in the late stages of cancer. She did not make it through surgery.

Lala - 1 year old Chihuahua
X-rays determined that Lala required surgery to implant pins in her knee, and strict crate rest thereafter to recover.
$1,600

Roo - 3 year old St. Bernard
X-rays were required to determine the extent of her hip issues, which ultimately stated she was not eligible for the surgery.
$500

Taquito - 1 year old Chihuahua
Two surgeries were required for Taquito's paraphimosis groin issues.
$5,000

We do not include individual pet medical costs in their adoption fee. That is why we are so grateful for your donations.
